Premium patio umbrellas for outdoor dining.

Shade should work around your tables. EDG helps plan premium umbrella systems around where guests sit, how staff move and how your patio opens and closes each day.

Start with your patio and intended use. Photos and plans are welcome, but optional.

Choose the layout

The right shade starts with the support.

Center-pole, side-pole and wall-mounted umbrellas solve different layout problems. Modular canopies add another way to cover connected seating zones.

Center pole

A familiar choice for individual seating zones.

The mast sits beneath the canopy. Coordinate the table, pole and base together so chairs and guests have room.

Prostor P8 is a center-pole example with above-table opening and closing for standard furniture.

Side pole

Shade above the tables, with the support alongside.

A cantilever keeps the mast beside the shaded area. Its base, arm and closing envelope still need a place in the plan.

Useful where a pole through the middle would interrupt the seating layout.

Wall mounted

A shading option beside a suitable building wall.

A wall-mounted system avoids a freestanding base in that location. The wall construction and attachment need to suit the selected system.

Consider the reach, movement and nearby doors before choosing the attachment position.

Multiple canopies

Coordinate shade across several table groups.

Selected Prostor P6 configurations support one to four canopies from a single mast. Plan the full arrangement and its mounting together.

A shared support can serve several seating zones without putting a separate mast at every table.

Plan the whole dining footprint.

A canopy size is only the starting point. EDG reviews the seating plan and selected equipment with your project team so the shade supports service.

Follow the service hours

Look at where shade falls during lunch, afternoon and evening service. The canopy footprint and the useful shaded area change as the sun moves.

Leave room for people

Plan for chairs pulled out, trays carried between tables, doors opening and clear access routes. Include the base as well as the canopy in the layout.

Check both positions

Compare the fully open and fully closed umbrella with actual table heights, furniture, planting and overhead obstructions. Easy closing matters at the end of a busy shift.

Coordinate the ground work

Choose the mounting approach with the selected system and site team: a weighted base, floor plate, ground anchor or wall attachment each has different requirements.

Make opening and closing part of the plan.

Selected Prostor systems use manual, sliding operation. Choose a system your team can operate comfortably, and check the closing envelope before furniture is finalized.

Wind and shutdown

Site exposure, canopy configuration and mounting belong in the same conversation. Follow the selected model’s operating instructions and assign responsibility for closing and securing umbrellas when conditions require it.

Covers, care and service

Plan compatible covers, routine fabric and hardware checks, and a place for seasonal storage where needed. Use the selected system’s cleaning and storage instructions. Prostor’s replaceable fabrics and components make repair options part of the long-term plan.

Build the scope around your patio.

Umbrella projects range from one seating zone to a coordinated dining terrace. The quote should make clear what equipment, site work and installation are included.

Focused shade

One seating area, a selected canopy and a mounting approach suited to the site. Include the cover and everyday operating needs from the start.

Coordinated dining shade

Several table groups or modular canopies, planned together for consistent finishes, mast positions and opening clearances.

Equipped terrace

Compatible lighting, heating or connecting gutters where they suit the selected system. Coordinate electrical work and accessory clearances with the site team.

What changes the project budget?

Canopy count and size, configuration, fabric and finish, mounting and foundations, delivery access, installation and electrical scope all matter. Compare the complete installed scope, including covers and any compatible accessories, rather than the umbrella equipment alone.

Umbrella or permanent pergola?

Targeted shade over dining

An umbrella suits a project centered on shading selected tables or seating groups, with a canopy that opens and closes. Selected modular layouts extend that approach across a larger dining area.

A defined outdoor room

A pergola is worth considering when the plan calls for a permanent roof structure, rain management and integrated outdoor-room features. The structure, site work and approvals are a different project scope.

Patio umbrella questions

What is the best commercial patio umbrella for a restaurant?

The best fit is the one that shades your seating while preserving circulation and straightforward staff operation. EDG compares the canopy layout, mast and base positions, site exposure and mounting requirements before recommending a system.

Can several umbrella canopies share one pole?

Yes. Selected Prostor P6 configurations support one to four canopies from one mast. The canopy arrangement, support, mounting and opening clearances should be planned as one system.

Will we have to move tables to close the umbrellas?

That depends on the model and your furniture. Prostor describes P8 opening and closing above standard tables and chairs. EDG checks the selected system against your actual table heights and layout rather than assuming every umbrella clears every table.

Can an umbrella be mounted to a wall?

Wall-mounted models are available within the Prostor range. The wall construction, attachment location, reach and nearby obstructions need to be reviewed for the selected system.

Can commercial umbrellas stay open in wind?

Operating limits depend on the model, configuration, mounting and exposure. Follow the selected system’s operating instructions and establish who closes and secures the umbrellas when conditions require it. A wind figure for one configuration should not be applied to every umbrella.

What affects the cost of a premium patio umbrella project?

The main drivers are canopy count and size, configuration, fabric and finish, mounting and site preparation, access and delivery, installation scope, and compatible accessories. Compare quotes that clearly separate the umbrella equipment from foundations, electrical work and installation.

Can umbrella fabric and parts be replaced?

Prostor designs its umbrellas with replaceable components and washable, replaceable canopy fabrics. Confirm the compatible fabric, hardware and service requirements for the selected model when planning maintenance or a repair.
