Multi-Bay commercial system to increase outdoor seating

The Challenge

This restaurant is overlooking the famous Millenium Park in Chicago. The client wanted to create a comfortable space where clients can still enjoy the outdoors without being subjected to the sometimes ahrsh elements of Chicago. Being a rooftop right by Lake Michigan, this required unique engineering. There were also a variety of different types of column attachments into the building like welding custom made reinforcements to steel I beams and running through columns to reduce deflection.
